Great Weather-This is a time to be in Montana!

DSC_0094Had a great time on the Missouri the last couple of days.  Higher flows on the Mo but you can still get em.  Wire worm is key with a sow bug.  I had more luck not the sow bug than anything.  Talking with other guides and they swore on the wire worm.  Most importantly we were out fishing.  Lots of snow pack in Montana and the Missouri is always great and fishable.  We provide many opportunities with Johnsrud Outfitters.  Book your trip today! 406-253-8408

Top water Action!!!!!

DSC_0089Headed out to a near by slough in Kalispell Montana.  Looking for some pike and bass on the fly rods this evening.  No pike, but we were able to get quite a few great takes on the top with bass.  Its a blast seeing a large mouth inhale your frog as it dances by the lily pads.  We offer plenty of lake oppurtutnies for a variety of fish.  Book your trip today.

Lots of runoff on the Flathead River and it is going to be quite some time before she is fishing.  Missouri River is always a great option.  Great weather this week so be sure to get out and enjoy it! 406-253-8408

Its a great time to be in Montana!!!

IMG_0034 Had a great trip today with Jeff and Robin from North Carolina.  With a lot of the rivers muddy-up lately, we have many lake opportunities to fill your fly fishing itch.  Rodgers lake was a great choice today.  Had a strong Callibaetis hatch come off at noon, and it was the strongest I had ever seen it.  Fish started eating on the surface at about 1 o’clock.  What great day being able to get them on nymphs, streamers and then to top it off with some great dry fly action.  We have been catching some great pike lately as well!!  Lots of energy in Montana with some great weather and some great fishing.  Book your trip today 406-253-8408

Streamers-Nymphing-Dry Fly

IMG_0046

You can do it all on the Missouri right now!  Zonkers (Rust worked best for us) leech patterns, sex dungeons, and clouser minnows will bring interest from fish.  Lightning bugs with a zebra midge or pink scud will keep your nymph rod bent all day.  12 o’clock the baetis started popping and the fish got on them about 2pm.  Cripple and emerger patterns worked best.  Make that first cast count!  Some great fishing to be had folks.  Make sure you get out before old man winter sets in.  406-253-8408

Overcast-No Wind-Hopper Fishing

IMG_0037What a great day to be out fishing with overcast conditions, no wind, and why wouldn’t you throw a hopper out there?  A little twitch works good especially with heavily fished trout.  Call and book your trip today.  406-253-8408

LABOR DAY WEEKEND-TRY A OLIVE WOOLY BUGGER!

IMG_0034Had a great day with Randy and his buddy Greg on the Missouri.  It was suppose to be 94 degrees but it never reached that.  The Dam was good and is always good nymphing.  After the Wolf Creek bridge  fishing gets tougher.  With todays conditions with some overcast mixed with some smoke from the wildfires why not throw a streamer.  We had enough take to keep things interesting.  Thanks for the trip Randy and Greg.  406-253-8408
