GREAT FISHING TO BE HAD ON THE WORLD FAMOUS MISSOURI RIVER!

5-26-13 MO 001Lots of boats out on the Missouri River with Memorial Weekend upon us.  The fishing is great on the MO.  Nymph fishing continues to put lots of fish to the boat.  Lightning bugs, Little Green Machines, Weight Fly, Rainbow Warrior will do the trick.  In the afternoon the hatch start coming off about 1 O’clock.  Lots of baetis today with some caddis mixed in.  The BWO’s looked a size smaller to me today-try a size 20 for dries.  Henery’s Fork Caddis is a killer on the MO.  It’s time to be fishing in Montana!  406-253-8408

I HAD TO BREAK IN MY NEW RAFT TODAY WITH A 19 INCH BROWN!

5-16-13 MO 008What a great day to break in my new 14ft NRS fly fishing raft on the Missouri.  Kinda nice to get everything situated. Made sure everything was in place as far as casting frames, support bars, and the anchor system.  I gotta say I love this raft already.  Pretty comfortable as far as rafts go!  Saw a ton of caddis today on the river.  I didn’t have much success5-16-13 MO 009 on them but smoked them pretty good on BWO’s (cripples and emergers).  Lots of action on the Missouri and its quite the popular spot with all of the other rivers blown out with spring run off.  The time is now to get a booked trip on Belt creek, Dearborn, and Sun river.  Belt creek and the Dearborn open this Saturday (May 18th).  Here’s a few pictures of the raft debut!

MARCH BROWNS AND BAETIS

5-10-13 MO 005Looking for some dry fly action?  The Missouri River is fishing great and the dry fly game is on.  March Browns started coming off about 12 o’clock along with the Baetis.  March Brown Duns and BWO’s emergers were key for us.  Look close to the banks and the glassy water!  With the sun you really have to look close and be patient.  Pick some nice fish up on streamers as well in the morning.  Gonga, Zoo Cougar, Sex Dungeons, and all the weird stuff KK (Kris Keller) throws was doing the trick.

BEAUTIFUL DAY ON THE WORLD FAMOUS MISSOURI RIVER!

5-5-13 MO 001I did a short float today for the Dam to Wolf Creek Bridge and what a beautiful day it was!  To be honest fishing really wasn’t that great in that stretch.  I have kinda avoided this stretch because the summer is closing in and I know I will be spending a bunch of time up there nymphing with clients.  Lots of m5-5-13 MO 002idges on the water with some BWO’s mixed in.  We got some nice fish to the boat but it wasn’t a banner day.  Mark and Hue were nice enough to ask me a long and they did a great job today.

EPIC!

5-30-13 MO 004The fishing on the Missouri was epic today.  Streamers in the morning, a little nymphing, and lots of dry fly fishing to BWO’s this afternoon and it was great.  The weather was overcast and lots of rain today.  To be quite honest the you didn’t even notice the weather because the fishing was that good.  Here is my buddy Josh with a nice Missouri River brown trout!

GOTTA LOVE MONTANA

5-2-13 MO 009My buddy Lou came up from Bozeman to fish central Montana for a couple of days.  Great fishing to be had here in the great state of Montana.  The weather is right on the verge of getting nice and I can’t wait to be wearing shorts and putting sun block on.  Lots of baetis and a few caddis are showing up5-2-13 MO 015.  Looks like a epic fishing season is upon us with the PMD’s getting on deck to do their thing.  Here is a few shots of Lou and some nice fish!  Lou loves his dog and feels that he can’t go fishing with out her.  Lucy is a very lucky dog!  Looks like this weekend and the upcoming week is going to be outstanding for dry fly fishing.  Make sure you take advantage of the “Spring Special”. 406-253-8408
