Yellowstone-Armstrong Spring Creek-MadisonYellowstone-Arm-Madison 001

I ventured out to the Bozeman area Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.  The Yellowstone, Armstrong Spring Creek and the Madison were on the menu.  I had an absolute blast in Big Sky Country!  On the Yellowstone, I floated Pine Creek to Carter’s Bridge and picked up some nice browns on leech patterns.  The Kiwi Muddler minnow worked on all three of these great fisheries by the way.  The key for us was the soft tail-outs of major runs.  I really slowed down my retrieve.  I had never fished the spring creeks in Paradise Valley but I absolutely fell in love with Armstrong Creek.  Lots of midges with a few baetis.  The fish were extremely selective.  CDC hanging midge with a jujuYellowstone-Arm-Madison 003 midge dropper worked best for me.  Nothing to big but I will take a 14 inch selective brown on a spring creek any day!  The Madison was great today.  I had great success on a Olive Sex Dungeon and a Yellow Zoo Cougar.  Lou of course threw his Kiwi Muddler minnow and landed a 20 inch brown.  We had a bit more luck in the canyon at the warm springs put in but had enough takes in the lower river to keep things interesting.  Getting quite a few bookings for the spring special on the Missouri.  $300 for a full-day is pretty tough to beat.  Fishing is really heating up in Montana.  Take advantage of God’s great creation-I know he wants me to take advantage of it!Yellowstone-Arm-Madison 006
